Airbourne Aviation gives us a
fabulous experience introducing us to microlighting
and what is involved in this growing sport.
You will be given the opportunity to actually take control and fly one.
These fixed wing machines (Ikarus C42) are capable of
flying to the continent; one has even made a trip to Australia! (Please note these are not hangliders.)
Upon arrival, meet in the Clubhouse café for a
coffee and bacon butty, paid separately. It’s well worth arriving early as the Clubhouse
serves great food. A member of Airbourne Aviation
will then come and meet you and take you to the instruction room for a briefing
before your 20 minute flight begins. After your flight you will be handed a
certificate to amaze your friends. This event is weather dependent so please
ring 01845 1309676 on the morning to check that it's going ahead. Please note there is a maximum weight of 16st for this event.
Directions:
Popham Airfield, Coxford Down, Winchester SO21 3BD is
situated on the A303 Salisbury/Andover Road.
Coming south along the M3, take the left fork off the M3 just past J8.
You’ll pass the airfield on the wrong side of the dual carriageway. Go underneath the bridge and make as if to
double back onto the A303 - but don’t! Go back onto the A303. You’ll see a small road off the slip road
which takes you to the airfield. Park in the car park and walk to the end of the
buildings which are on your right. The café is
the last building. www.popham-airfield.co.uk
