Join Brenda for a four mile stroll in and around the historic market town of Romsey and find out a few fascinating facts on the way. The town grew up around the Abbey, founded at the start of the 10th century and quickly became a magnet for tradesmen and craftsmen, in particular those linked to the cloth finishing industries. The Abbey itself escaped the fate of many of its contemporaries during the dissolution of the monastries as the townspeople of Romsey were permitted to purchase it for £100 to use as their Parish Church.
After the walk we’ll relax with a drink at the local pub.
